Fresh from their New Year’s Eve fiesta at Rich Mix, Global Local Latin partner Movimientos present a taste of the thriving live Latin scene. Global Local is the unique festival project supporting quality new global music acts in the UK, and programming acts across a wide range of festival across the country.
Last year, alongside their regular club nights and live music events across London, Movimientos hosted stages at Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Lovebox and The Secret Garden Party amongst a host of others. Here they present a showcase of some their freshest talent with a selection of acts set to storm the festival scene and Global Local stages in 2011.
Representing Colombia-via-Brighton, Pollito Boogaloo play raw Cumbia and Vallenato. Sending crowds into a dancing frenzy with their tight hypnotic grooves, it’s no wonder they were recently selected to support Femi Kuti.
Having just launched their excellent debut EP, Wara are one of the most exciting new acts to emerge recently, re-interpreting Cuban Funk and playingTropical rhythms with a serious London groove!
Jardares Por Fuera have set alight every stage they’ve played on in the last year and gained a dedicated following. They play fiery blend of Rumba-Flamenco enriched with Reggae, Swing and Hip Hop.
The night is complemented by Movimientos’ DJ Arias, no stranger to ripping up London and festival dancefloors with a funky blend of Latin beats and Tropical bass.
